In March 2019 The Washington Post learned of Johnny's inspirational story and featured his photo in an in-depth article on fentanyl. 

BBC produced a three-part series that explores the real-time impact of the US opioid epidemic in one city—Louisville, Kentucky. In a moving interview Linda Squire tells the story of Johnny's journey.
